Scarecrow visit Hinkley Point B

At the request of EDF, Scarecrow this week visited Hinkley point B   ( https://www.edfenergy.com/energy/power-stations/hinkley-point-b) with a view to tackle the problems being experienced mainly from Herring Gulls. The site has experienced a Gull problem for over 30 years, mainly as it is coastal, and has very large buildings representing a “modern day” cliff face (with the benefit of added warmth).

Typically on the day in question and time of meeting there was not an abundance of Gulls around to demonstrate the impact the broadcast of a distress call can have, but the few that were present very soon dispersed away from the area.

The Gulls are causing problems to the roof tops with their nest material blocking drainage channels etc, as well as the corrosive nature of the guano impacting on the staff car park – daily cleaning is a significant site cost.
