SCARECROW MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT

 

This statement is published in line with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This statement is signed by Lee Pannett , Managing Director for the financial year ending 2024 and will be reviewed for each financial year.

Scarecrow considers that modern slavery encompasses:

  • Human Trafficking
  • Forced work, through mental or physical threat;
  • Being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse;
  • Being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property;
  • Being physically constrained or to have restriction placed on freedom of movement.

Scarecrow Group Ltd is a small niche company based in the UK Supplies Humane Bird Deterrent Bio Acoustic systems for a number of sectors including:

  • Airports, Offshore Platforms, Agriculture, and Leisure facilities.
  • We employ 7 staff. Through our work we also engage with numerous suppliers of goods and services.

Our Supply Chain

We procure goods and services from the UK and a limited number of overseas suppliers. We build relationships with our suppliers to ensure they understand our values and comply with our expectation and commitment to protect human rights and the environment.

Due Diligence

Through undertaking due diligence in our activity, we seek to ensure that we do not inadvertently support Modern Slavery. We make our processes known to potential staff and suppliers as a means of encouraging good practice.

We ensure that all staff are legally entitled to work in the UK and that the contract is directly with them.

We will further review our supplier onboarding process to embed checks on suppliers to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Risk Assessment and Management

In general Scarecrow considers its exposure to slavery/human trafficking to be relatively low. Nonetheless it has taken steps to ensure that such practices do not take place in its business nor the business of any organisation that suppliers’ goods and/or services to it. We do not enter into any contract which would result in the company’s products being used in Countries with a Global Freedom Score below 10 as researched and defined by Freedom House.

In accordance with section 54(4) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Scarecrow has taken the following steps to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place as far as reasonably practicable:

  • Reviewing our supplier contracts to include termination powers in the event that the supplier is, or is suspected to be involved in modern slavery.
  • Measure in place to identify and assess the potential risks in its supply chains.

 

Training

We will provide mandatory awareness training to all staff on the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and inform them of the appropriate action to take if they suspect a case of modern slavery or human trafficking.

Key Performance Indicators

  • 100% of staff will have undertaken mandatory training in relation to modern slavery by 26 April 2024.
  • To include the policy statement as part of the induction process for any new employees.

 

Slavery Compliance Officer

Scarecrow Group Ltd has a Slavery Compliance Officer, to whom all concerns regarding modern slavery should be addressed and who will then undertake relevant action with regard to Scarecrows obligations in this regard.
