Scarecrow Group has been named Global Player – Export Business of the Year at the recent Sussex Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. We emerged victorious from a shortlist of nine companies at a glitzy award ceremony on Friday evening.
The black-tie event was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole, a stunning Victorian-era seafront hotel. It was hosted by professional dancer and TV personality Brendan Cole. Our team enjoyed a three-course dinner with coffee and chocolates as they awaited the results of the judges’ deliberations. The evening concluded with dancing, complete with live band, and casino tables.
Announcing Scarecrow as winner of the Global Player of the Year Award, Mike Jones of award sponsor International Logistics Group (ILG), highlighted our “indispensable safety solution” and the way Scarecrow works closely with nature. In particular, he praised the way Scarecrow technology has been repurposed to not repel but attract birds. By swapping out the usual distress calls for mating calls, our products have aided conservation efforts on Denis Island in the Seychelles, drawing sooty terns to the island and reversing a decline in the population.
Scarecrow Group’s products can be found across the globe, in places as far from our UK head office as Mongolia, New Zealand, and even the remote, snowy vistas of Antarctica. “Scarecrow has always been a proudly global business,” said our Managing Director Lee Pannett, “and we are absolutely thrilled that this has been recognised by Sussex Chamber of Commerce.”
“It is especially wonderful to receive this award in Scarecrow’s landmark 40th year. It reflects the hard work and talent of our team members, building the business up to be a true Global Player,” Lee continued.
Having won the county award, Scarecrow Group will now be progressing to the regional Chamber of Business Awards, where we will be up against our fellow winners from across the Southeast of England for an even more prestigious accolade.
