SCARECROW 180/360 SYSTEM

How do the systems work?
Scarecrow’s bio-acoustic systems use the regular broadcast of the birds naturally occurring distress calls, to disperse the birds from the target area that are causing the problem.

Which Bird calls are on the system? What bird calls do you have available?
Each System comes pre-programmed with 10 of our most commonly used bird distress calls, detailed on each product leaflet available via the product page.
Call exchanges are available at a fee, you can choose from over 64 different birds in our distress call library as well as utilising our knowledge and experience in relation to intra specie bird calls.

System power requirements/options?
They can be powered from either a 12-15v DC(100v/250) ac mains power, 12v 80Ah Leisure Battery, or a Solar power option is available.

What countries are you able to ship to?
We can normally provide worldwide delivery via Economy or Priority Export Shipping.

Is the sound emitted audible to humans? Does the sound affect or interfere with other animals?
The systems work by playing the birds natural “distress calls”. In the same way as humans can hear other bird calls, the broadcast will be audible to human ears and if at the correct volume it will sound like a regular wild bird call. The broadcasted calls are only recognisable by the target bird species, and therefore has no lasting effect on other wildlife at all.

Does the system come with a warranty?
Each System comes with a standard 1 year return to base warranty.

What is the effective operating distance of the Systems?
The Scarecrow 180™ can cover up to 20,000sq meters (dependent on wind direction and ambient conditions). When adding the Scarecrow 360 “slave” unit, this increases to up to 40,000 sq. meters.

Can we do a Site visit/Demonstration
Site visits/Demonstrations to locations in the UK are possible, but may have a cost dependent on location. 50% of this cost is refundable on a subsequent purchase in line with recommendations provided.
Often people want a demonstration as they are not sure what “bio-acoustics” is – please watch one of the videos on our web site to see how the process works.

How often the system is on and broadcasting?
The Systems have three main random time functions that indicate how long the interval will be between each call sequence broadcast.
The system is automatically pre-set to “Normal” mode – this is the default and recommended everyday setting, which will broadcast roughly every 30 to 45 minutes.

What is a distress call?
Distress Calls are the birds’ natural, evolutionary way of advising each other of imminent danger – it is a different call to an Alarm call, which is a warning and informs that a predator may be in the area. The Distress Call is a “call to action; to take flight” and is typically specie specific.

Any maintenance required when running the system?
The Systems have no moving parts; this means if they are used correctly there will be no regular maintenance required. The fully automatic systems have been designed to require no after care, and some of our systems are still being used after 10 to 20 years in location.

What are the lead times?
The Scarecrow 180/360 System™ is a standard stock item; normal dispatch time would be within 1-2 days from receipt of payment, confirmation of this will be given at time of payment.

How does the cost of the system compare to other bird dispersal methods, e.g. Netting?
The Bio-Acoustics systems can provide coverage ranging from 20,000sq. meters up to a maximum of 150,000sq. meters (depending on factor conditions). Therefore this allows for significant savings to be made when comparing the cost of this system to the costs of netting on larger premises.

Will the system broadcast 24/7?
Whilst the systems can broadcast for 24 hours a day, there is the option to make use of the inbuilt (or external remote) ambient light sensor to facilitate the “Dusk to Dawn” playback feature. Furthermore, a 24 hour programmable plug can be used if greater system time control is required.
