Hollywood star and rapper Will smith was late to a show on Monday (25th August) due to a bird strike. Smith had to travel to the venue of the next show on his UK tour by car instead, causing him to miss the sound check.
Smith is currently on the UK let of his Based on a True Story tour, to promote his new album of the same name. He was due to fly between the cities of Leeds and Cardiff, but the plane he was due to tack struck a bird while landing, according to a post on the star’s Instagram. As a result, the plane was unable to undertake journey and he was forced to travel much more slowly by road. It is unclear if the plane was damaged or was taken out of service for vital safety checks.
Fortunately, Smith was able to go ahead with his show in the Welsh capital. However, instead of a 40-minute flight he had to take a four-hour drive, arriving late and missing the sound check.
