Bird Strike for Red Arrows

Famous UK aerobatic display team the Red Arrows suffered a bird strike hours before appearing at two events last Saturday. The team was down a plane for the first event but back up to full strength for the second.

The strike happened en route to the first event, a commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day where the nine-jet team was due to do a flypast. The affected aircraft returned to base while the remaining eight plans completed the flypast as planned.

After appropriate safety inspection of the aircraft, it was able to participate in the second event of the day – a performance at Eastbourne International Airshow.

Flight Grounded After Bird Strike in Islamabad

A flight to Karachi was grounded before takeoff in Islamabad after a bird struck its engine. The incident occurred while the aircraft was on the taxiway.

The flight, operated by Pakistani private airline Airblue, was cancelled as the impact caused damage to one of the Airbus A320’s engines. The cancellation reportedly caused commotion among passengers and significant disruption.

Emergency Landing After Engine Fire Caused by Suspected Bird Strike

A suspected bird strike caused a flight from Corfu, Greece to Düsseldorf, Germany had to make an emergency landing in Italy after an engine caught fire. The dramatic moment when the fire broke out, believed to have been caused by a bird strike, was caught on video and posted to social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The Boeing 757-300, operated by German budget airline Condor, made its emergency landing in Brindisi only 43 minutes after its departure from Ioannis Kapodistrias Airport in Corfu. It was carrying 273 passengers and eight crew members, who were fortunately unharmed. Those living close by reported hearing a loud bang when the incident occurred. Passengers from the flight spent the night in the airport due to a lack of nearby hotel options, and were provided with onward travel to Düsseldorf the following day.
