CAA Releases Latest Bird-Strike Figures
Tuesday 31 May 2011
The Civil Aviation Authority in the UK have recently announced that all reported bird strikes to aircraft were up by 23% in 2010 compared with the previous year. Confirmed bird strikes were up by 10% in 2010 against the previous year and 3% compared to 2009.
Several species involved in aircraft bird strikes are on the increase; gulls by 50%, swallows up by 150% and there's a 45% increase in swifts striking aircraft. Interestingly, pigeons are now deemed to be less of a problem - down by 25% - kestrels involved in strikes to aircraft are also well down.
Scarecrow can help aiport operators disperse birds very effectively and safely, using bio-acoustic technology. Call our Sales Team to find out more about Ultima v3, Premier 1500 and Patrol 2 airside products.
